"The tourism industry is facing the 'green transformation' towards sustainability. SDI*Rating is a user-oriented measurement tool for sustainable business.“
SDI*Rating has developed a scientifically based methodology that makes all industry-relevant sustainability indicators of tourism businesses visible in ONE number from 0 to 100. Comprehensive evaluations support tourism businesses in measuring their ESG performance - in the areas of environmental, social and corporate governance. SDI*Rating: Easy, Safe, Genius
SDI*RATING FOR FINANCIAL SERVICE PROVIDERS
Banks and insurance companies play an important new role in the “green transformation”. Each of these companies is currently developing its own ESG roadmap to locate and be able to process ESG risks.
For this purpose, banks require reliable and verified primary data on the companies’ ESG performance. SDI*Rating provides this data in a simple and effective way.
THE USPs OF SDI*RATINGS FOR FINANCIAL SERVICE PROVIDERS
Rating for the entire economy – in particular for SMEs
The transformation will not be possible without SMEs! In Austria, 95.8% of the companies are SMEs – in the EU, 99.8% – generating 60.3% of the country’s economic output. Therefore, the most important task is to develop an ESG rating tool that can also be applied to SMEs. For this purpose, the method of measurement must be user-centered, easy to use, cost-efficient and still valid and reliable!
Comprehensive SDI*Supply Chain Audit ¹
Most ESG risks arise along the supply chain, and the sustainability aspect of many industries – e.g. in the distributive trades – can be validly determined only by taking account of supply chains. Hence, what is required is an ESG rating system down to the raw material.
SDI*CO2 Footprint Calculator ¹
The CO2 footprint is generated in the supply chain, starting with the raw material – we provide a visualization of the entire actual CO2 footprint. This is especially relevant if CO2 pricing increases rapidly and the cost structure of companies changes by leaps and bounds.
OTHER POSITIVE SIDE-EFFECTS OF SDI*RATING
By recording various data beyond a company’s own customer base, SDI*Rating is able to provide important benchmark analyses, thus allowing to better estimate the customers’ sustainability performance for regional, national and international comparisons.
In addition to risk management, marketing and sales will benefit from the ESG roadmap. Banks can be decisive partners of companies, supporting them during the “green transformation”!
¹ Supply Chain Audit and CO2 Footprint Calculator are available from version 2.3 and 2.4, respectively (Q2 2024).
To accompany the entire transformation to a more sustainable portfolio, SDI*BANK-COCKPIT provides the crucial evaluations - from benchmarking within the industry to SDG and ESG evaluations to optimization recommendations.
THE 5 PRINCIPLES OF SDI*RATING
WE SPEAK „HOTEL“
The SDI* is simple and easy to understand: the topic of sustainability is complex. Data collection from individual operations is about materiality. SDI*Rating only asks the relevant questions for tourism businesses and the respective answer options are mostly given, so that really every entrepreneur can answer the questions quickly and easily.
The SDI* is versatile in its application: Sustainability information will be needed by many entities in different ways in the future. From intermediary platforms, consumers looking for sustainable offers, funding agencies that want to promote sustainable businesses, to financial service providers that, for example, grant loans and insurances based on ESG information.
ONE FOR ALL!
"LEARNING BY RATING!"
The SDI* brings high benefits for businesses: we all need to learn sustainability. Therefore, there is a need for a rating approach where businesses are guided, with some ease, towards sustainability. We show the important options for action and also present sustainability targets - e.g. the "WayToZero" or the CO2 Footprint. In our sustainability blog, we show industry-related "best practice" examples and make new technical and economic options available to companies.
TRANSFORMATION THROUGH TRANSPARENCY
The SDI* already meets the requirements of the EU Commission: the special requirements for an ESG rating for financial service providers are constantly being tightened by the EU supervisory authorities - scientifically based, comparable, transparent procedures from independent providers are what the EU wants and stipulates in the "Strategy for Financing a Sustainable Economy".
WE GROW WITH THE CHALLENGES!
The SDI* is always up to date - The criteria for the SDI* evaluation are in line with the latest regulations in the field of non-financial reporting. We have a team of specialists who incorporate the key regulations (at EU and national level) into the SDI* rating at an early stage. Our methodology is dynamic and continuously adapted to developments.
To accompany the entire transformation to a more sustainable company, the SDI*BUSINESS-COCKPIT provides crucial support - from benchmarking within the industry to optimization recommendations.
THE SDI*RATING OFFERS THE FOLLOWING ADVANTAGES FOR TOURISM BUSINESSES
Industry comparison: „How does my business compare to other businesses - locally, but also internationally?“
Analysis of individual criteria: „In which areas is my business good, in which is there a need for action in terms of sustainability?“
Suggestions for action: SDI*Rating shows exactly in which criteria one can improve the rating for the business.
SDI*Targets: over the years, the path towards a target - in the area of environment, social or corporate governance - such as the "WayToZero" in CO2 emissions up to the supply chain (from 2023) - can be mapped and successfully tracked.
The general advantage of sustainability – with SDI*Rating helps to sustainably use resources and thus reduce costs.
SDI*Rating as an ESG rating meets the legal requirements for lending by financial service providers, which will come into force from 2022 or 2024. The same applies to funding programs of public authorities and thus to the entire financing of economic activity.
